At the age of 19, while

performing a song, Chiara met

Alessandro, they fell in love and,

one year later, they gave life to a

new musical project called "Crysalys".

In the meantime she discovered

"Oceanborn", the second album

by the Finnish band Nightwish.

She enjoyed Tarja's operatic

voice so much that she

decided to learn classical

singing too.

She immediately showed an undoubted talent for Opera, thanks to the theatrical and exciting voice she was given. Her particular voice is characterized by a great flexibility in high-lying velocity passages, yet with great sustaining power of a spinto/dramatic soprano with a rich, powerful and expressive voice that (in metal music) she combines with sweet, strong and bright clean vocals following the pop/rock style. Her exact vocal range is the one of a "DRAMATIC COLORATURA SOPRANO".

Dusk (real name Chiara Malvestiti) is the lead singer, songwriter and co/founder, along with the drummer A.C., of the Italian melodic metal band CRYSALYS.
She started singing at the age of 16, but singing has always played an important role in her life, ever since she was a child (every close friend of hers says that Chiara filled every place she’d ever been with her bright voice).
Her musical studies started at the age of 11, when Chiara took her first piano lessons for an only year. Later, at the age of 16, she started learning modern singing, at her hometown’s musical academy.

Until 2008, she studied with good vocal coaches, such as the mezzo-soprano I. Conti and the tenor M. Luciani, but she found the right

way to express herself and the stability she always needed with the Italian/Brazilian dramatic soprano Patrizia Morandini. Under her guidance,

Chiara is seriously studying in Florence, carrying on her private studies to be admitted at the Conservatory and to achieve,
as soon as possible, a degree in Belcanto. She’s going to make her operatic stage debut in Autumn 2010, when she will sing the
role of Euridice in Gluck’s “Orfeo and Euridice”. Dusk is one of the special guest of the forthcoming 2010 double album of the Argentinean
bass player and songwriter Beto Vazquez, who has already worked with a lot of famous and great singers and musicians from the whole
world melodic metal scene.
